Methodology in this country

Data from Haiti was collected via face-to-face surveys. The first round of data collection took place in April 2017 with 900 individuals in the departments of Nord-Ouest, Grand’Anse, Sud and Nippes –the departments that have been hit hardest by Hurricane Matthew. The sample was representative, and respondents were randomly selected and interviewed in public places in 14 different communes.

The second survey took place in September 2018 with 660 respondents, using the same sampling strategy and the same locations; the only difference was that the department of Nippes was not included. This department was omitted as the number of the targeted population, as detailed in the Humanitarian Response Plan, had been drastically reduced.

Data disaggregated by department, commune, zone (rural, urban, coastal), gender, age, type of accommodation, household size, number of dependents, gender of head of household, and disability is available.
